Entertaiment is any activity which provides a diversion or permits people to amuse themselves. People may create their own entertainment, such as when they spontaneously invent a game; they can also be participants in active entertainment, such as when they engage in a sport as a hobby; or they can consume entertainment passively, such as when they watch a movie. Entertainment serves a vital social function, and it takes many forms. For example, research into cancer is a form of entertainment for the scientists involved in the Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) initiative, and it has helped to bring great pleasure to many people through its findings.
